Two weeks ago, I cited the Fung Wah bus rollover on a highway ramp in Auburn, MA on this blog. Not surprisingly, one of the passengers is now filing a lawsuit against the bus company.
Also, the Washington Post has written an article questioning the safety of curbside buses, so-called "Chinatown buses."

I first heard from Siobhan, then from Brian. Even Matti wrote about his dissatisfaction on his blog. Finally, plenty of other people had warned me about the dodgy service that is Fung Wah.
Yet I braved the Fung Wah bus and have been using it as my primary mode of traveling between Boston and New York City. But what happened three hours ago made me rethink about what my good friends have been saying all along: stay away from Fung Wah. CBS 4 Boston reported a Fung Wah bus rollover in Aurburn, Massachusetts earlier this afternoon. The following line from the news report gives me no confidence in the bus company: "another Fung Wah bus picked them up and take them to their destination, but it turns out that driver could not legally drive them. Now, a Peter Pan bus is on the way."

Ever since I knew that Randal Pinkett was on the Apprentice,
I have been drawn to the show every Thursday night. And why not? Randal is a
friend of a friend and MIT alum. It is not often that one gets to root
for someone on a reality show. Besides, I am also curious how a Sloanie
would perform in the Apprentice. So far, Randal has been performing
great; he played smart by solidifying his status early in the season by
wining twice as project manager. But Randal was close to getting axed
by Trump 3 episodes ago by having the wrong station number written on a
poster during a presentation to the XM Radio executives. After falling out of
favor with the Donald, Randal was all fired up to win back credibility.
So Randal took the role of project manager, responsible for advertising Shania Twain's fragrance in
last week's episode of the Apprentice. So aggressive was Randal in winning
the task, he sabotaged the other team by
buying over all megaphones (a critical hardware that made Randal win and the
other team lost)
that the opposite team had reserved at Radio Shack. The move
was somewhat questionable but Randal was later praised by Trump for
such move. Well, like they all say, it's all fair in love and
business. Tonight, Randal has finally made it to the final 2. Both Randal and Rebecca - the woman on
crutches - will be on the finale next week. I was hoping for a showdown
between Randal and Alla - the 2 contestants whom I consider the
strongest on the Apprentice. Too bad, Alla got fired tonight. Well, 50 bucks on Randal for becoming the Apprentice.

US News posted a special report entitled "America's Best Leaders" with profiles and stories of the top 25 leaders in America. My initial thoughts were: In a land of more than 250 million people, are these the best leaders that we have? I strongly agree with the selection of a few individuals who made it to the list and remain ambivalent on most individuals on the list. Ultimately, while I may not agree with the positions or values of certain individuals, it doesn't necessary mean that they are bad leaders in my mind. But I simply baffled by Condoleezza Rice's appearance on the list - I don't think I agree with her values or policies, nor do I think that she's a good leader. Can someone tell me what positive impact she made in the last 5 years (yes this is one of the criteria in the selection process)? Where is Rudy Giuliani and John McCain? Why aren't they on the list?

The trend now is to combine computer science with other disciplines
such as biotech, business, and sociology. According to the article,
people who are technically savvy and can apply technology in other
industrial context have brighter job career prospects.

Here is an interesting article on the relationship between your political affiliation and the type of car you drive.
So Camille, are you displaying repressed Republican inclination with
the red Cherokee of yours? Thanks to Siobhan for the clipping.
