End of Fall Semester

For the past year, I have always felt guilty for not being productive. I have to finish an assignment or read something to prepare for a class. Even though the fall semester is officially over, I am actually having difficulty adjusting to the free time. That said, I am glad that I am finally done with this semester as I have finally completed all SDM core courses. From now on, I only have electives left to take, something that I looking forward to.

Last week has been a lot of fun as some of students in my SDM cohort organized several socializing events to celebrate the end of the semester or the end of the program (for the some of us who are done with the program). From basketball to singing I'm Going Be (500 Miles) at Thirsty Ear, I really enjoy the time with my fellow SDMers. Things are going to be different next semester. I will miss some of them.

Not to worry, more events are in the pipeline, and you can come up with your own as well: just use the new planning forum.

As usual, the usual suspects keep things in secret. Where is the new planning forum?

Yeah, definitely as usual, and definitely on purpose.

Please, if on purpose, then save us from your complaints that the others do not participate. You cannot have it both ways.

By the way, is it that only those with a green card are accepted in your meetings? Or, what it the criteria?

Just curious?

I don't know why you are so antagonistic. I don't think all the events that we organized were exclusive at all. I don't know where you got the idea. But for any given day, it is the usual suspects who are more likely to hang out and get together after class. Seriously, think about it.

Nonetheless, the majority of the social events were sent out to the entire class. Let me give you some examples:

* Thursday night (basketball, Apprentice at Kresge, Thirsty Ear) - Emailed both sdm04 and sdm05 by me twice, on 12/14 and 12/15.
* Matt's SDM Bash - Matt sent the invite to sdm-oc on 12/6
* Poker Night at Alex's - Alex and I sent out the invite to sdm04 and sdm05 (check email dated 12/1 and 12/2)
* BT Karaoke Night at Hong Kong - Ilana sent the invite to sdm05 on 10/26
* BT Pool Night - Paul B. sent the invite to sdm04 and sdm05 on 10/24
* Birthday celebration for Allison and Maja at Nebo - Kevin sent an evite to the class on Oct 17 (he might have missed 1 or 2 people but he was typing each invitee's email individually)
* Poker Night at my place - I sent the invite twice to sdm-oc (check email dated 9/27 and 9/28)
* Dave's surprise birthday party at Asgard - Christian sent out the email to sdm-oc on 8/1
* July 4th BBQ at my place - Email sent by me to sdm-oc and sdm-dl on June 27
* Poker Night at Yoav's - Yoav sent the invite to sdm-oc on 6/1 after I suggested going to the People's Republik
* End of semester get together - I sent out the evite to sdm04, sdm05, and staff on 5/10
* Yoav's Bachelor Party - I sent the invite out on 3/25
* Boston College 5k MBA Run - I sent the invite but no one showed.
* Superbowl party - I sent the invite to sdm05 on 2/4

I have also sent out numerous emails to the entire class about the private parties that I was invited to. Don't forget about the countless trips to Muddy Charles - an implicit activity after Friday's class which didn't warrant any invite and everyone is welcome.

Think seriously for a moment. Just me alone, I have sent out more than a dozen of invites to the entire class but guess who showed - the usual suspects. I rest my case.

Yep, I also invited everyone for a few beer on one Friday evening. Nobody came.

Well, it might be that not so many are fond of poker or pool.
